Wireless In-Car Surveillance:
Local Municipal Police Agency in Michigan
A
Local Municipal Police Agency in Michigan Secures On-Duty Police
Cars with VSI Wireless In-Car Surveillance System
This Police Department uses the VSI Wireless In-Car
surveillance system in its patrol cars to record evidence,
improve officer safety and minimize the likelihood of
evidence tampering. VSIs four-camera, complete
field-of-view, in-car video solution provides a visual
record of what happened in the area surrounding each
on-duty patrol car. Four small, high-resolution digital
video cameras, continuously record in every direction,
eliminating blind spots that occur with fewer cameras
or disadvantageous camera placement.
The VSI in-car camera system digitally records a 360
degree field of vision three times each second and automatically
transmits the recorded video data back to headquarters
through an encrypted wireless connection each time the
VSI-equipped car approaches the Police Department's
garage. This secure and tape-less system minimizes the
likelihood that the recorded video might be tampered
with, lost, stolen or intercepted.
Each time an incident occurs while the car is on duty,
the digital video recording can be accessed, viewed
and analyzed quickly and easily.
"Designed with continuous input from officers in
the field, the VSI four-camera, in-car security solution
is designed, ruggedized and secured with the specific
needs of law enforcement in mind. We replaced a video-tape
system that was unreliable, for example sometimes the
incident we wanted to review damaged the videotape and
rendered it unusable."
